A study sponsored by the Baptist Press has indicated that when a child is the first person in a household to make a decision for Christ, this decision has a limited effect on the family with only a 3.5 percent probability everyone else in the household will follow. When a mother is the first to become a Christian, it has a slightly greater impact upon the family with a 17 percent chance everyone else in the household will follow. But when a father experiences the miracle of new birth in Christ, the impact is dramatically increased to a 93 percent probability that everyone else in the family will follow. One can infer that any spiritual decision a father makes will have enormous impact on his family, and the ripple effect will be felt exponentially throughout his home, church, community and even the world.

After many years of ministry directed mostly to young people, Mark and Darby Travers stepped out in faith and launched Turning Hearts Ministries in 2004. Believing that strong Biblical leadership by fathers is foundational for family renewal, Mark's passion involves encouraging and equipping fathers to rise up as leaders and shepherds of their families and challenging parents to turn their hearts toward their children and children to turn their hearts toward their parents as God makes ready a people prepared for the Lord.
